Shareable, Wearable History

TruthTeeTold is "a people's history" to learn, wear, and share. Each item in our collection represents a slice of American history, often revealing stories that textbooks overlook because they do not align with the image America prefers to project. We highlight erased and little-known histories. Here, you will discover remarkable stories of resistance, survival, allyship, and the ongoing quest to create an America that fulfills its democratic ideals. Choose an item from our ever-expanding collection of people, places, and things. Embrace a story-rich QR Code that resonates with you. Become a walking-talking almanac of “a people’s history.” Learn about the good, bad, and ugly aspects of our collective struggles. Let’s acknowledge our past, accept it, and collaborate to build a more just and equitable society.

Who We Are

TruthTeeTold

We are you. We are individuals, single, spoken for, parents, siblings, educators, neighbors, colleagues, and your everyday Tanisha, Jane, John, Javier, Rosa, Yukiko, Teng, and Tyrone.

Most Importantly,

We are storytellers who are passionate about history and justice for all. We believe that teaching and learning history is an act of resistance that honors those who came before us and can empower those who will come after us. Our mission is to share knowledge as we work to correct and complete the record by exposing the false and incomplete narratives and myths that continue to divide us and keep us ignorant about each other's American history.  Our goal is to underscore the power of stories to tell truths no matter how difficult. We value the strength of the diverse cultures and communities that built the  nation. We aim to inform ourselves and others about each other, to live fully, learn maximally, and think critically. We believe in uplifting voices rather than succumbing to silence, fear, and despair. As the late, great Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon [that] you can use to change the world.”
